Karren Tyler is the founder, owner and president of Greenwood Lending, a family-owned and operated business specializing in residential and small commercial finance packages in Central Virginia.
She started her career in mortgage finance at a Charlottesville bank office in 1994, then went on to start her own mortgage brokerage in 2001 with the help of her daughter, Kristie. They were joined soon after by her son, Andy Zemon, and followed in 2004 by Bill Bader, her son-in-law.
Over the past six years, she and her family have grown Greenwood Lending into a thriving business with 15 employees. The company averages $7.6 million in volume per month.
“Client satisfaction is my passion,” Karen says.
“So when I started my own company, it was with the commitment to create an environment where each client is more than a transaction.
“I am very proud of the fact that Greenwood Lending is a referral-only company.
"This means that, instead of spending money on advertising, our money and energy are focused on creating clients for life who want to share their positive experience with their friends and colleagues. That, along with our competitive programs and knowledgeable staff, has been the key to our success.”
A resident of Central Virginia for more than 20 years, Karren knows the local market intimately. She raised her family in Nelson County and currently lives in Albemarle County.
Karren is a member of the Virginia Association of Mortgage Brokers and the National Association of Mortgage Brokers. She is a graduate of The CORE, a coaching program available only to the top 2% of mortgage brokers nationwide.
